Delirium, Dementia, and Depression (3Ds) Certificates (RNAO)
Completing the 3Ds modules deepened my understanding of how delirium, dementia, and depression presently differ in older adults. These certificates strengthened my ability to provide safe and accurate assessments in clinical practice. I chose to complete these modules since my patients in long-term and rehab units often experience cognitive or mood changes, therefore I completed these modules to instill more confidence in supporting them.
Falls Prevention in Older Adults Certificates (Toronto Public Health)
These falls prevention modules expanded my knowledge of mobility changes, aging, risk factors, and lifestyle interventions that can prevent falls-related injuries in older adults. I completed these modules since fall prevention is a critical part of practice in every setting I’ve worked in, especially with non-ambulatory patients or those who have cognitive impairments. Obtaining these certificates enhanced my ability to plan safe, proactive, and supportive care interventions for high-risk patients.
Cultural Competence in Healthcare (Ontario Health)
Obtaining this certificate allowed me to reflect on cultural humility, bias, and the significance of establishing safe, respectful environments for patients of all backgrounds. I completed this program because I understand that culturally competent care is integral to nursing and I want to ensure I am providing inclusive and trauma-informed care to all patients. This certificate aided me in building awareness as well as strengthening communication.
